Welcome to TowerCalcÔ
Trylon TSF's TowerCalc is an online calculator that determines Safety Factors for
TitanÔ self-support towers under various load conditions.
Based on the safety factors, you know which tower model is right for the job.
TowerCalc will help you select the most
suitable Titan tower for your needs. Note
that the data presented here provide guidelines
only.* It is very important that you consult
your tower distributor, or the factory about
safety factors and other considerations when
selecting your tower. Please note that Trylon
TSF does not accept responsibility for user
assumptions. TowerCalc relies on each user
to determine the particular variables that
meet their personal and local requirements.
Remember: Erroneous inputs will produce erroneous
outputs. The user must be certain about antenna,
wind, ice and other variables.
TowerCalc will calculate a tower's minimum Safety Factor by combining the variables of
tower height, tower base section width, maximum wind velocity and tower loading
conditions. Carefully read all instructions before entering these variables.
Click the "Read me" links for important additional information
When using a tower for antenna applications
the minimum Safety Factor
is 1.0 in the weakest tower component. The
calculator provides safety factors at each
8' splice point from the base up to the tower
top. It's important to note that trylon always
recommends you select the highest safety factor
possible that means choosing a beefier tower
model. For example, if the calculator shows
that a T200 model will do the job, we still
recomment a stronger model like the T300,
T400, etc..
When using a tower for supporting flood lighting and/or surveillance cameras, the minimum
Safety Factor is 2.0. By doing so, the wind is less likely to cause
sway in the tower. Therefore the camera and lights are more steady.
Above these minimums, Titan towers are designed
to survive stated wind speed and antenna loads
with no permanent deformation or failure of
tower components. All tower loading conditions
are solely based on wind and antenna loads
and do not include for ice on either the tower
or antenna. Tower failure may result if the
minimum Safety Factor is less than the values
stated above.

Notes:
C/w anchor stub legs for concrete. Splice hardware, and an 8' x 1.9" O.D. antenna mounting pipe.
To support the mounting pipe, every Top section is factory-installed with angle frames and u-bolts at top and middle of the section.
Tower height shown is nominal. Actual tower height achieved utilizing support pipe provided with tower.

| Step
2. |
Select
the Titan tower model by clicking on the
corresponding circle above.
As you click on higher models, the
width of the tower base section increase
by 3". If the circle is "greyed"
out, that means the model is not available
in that height.

3. |
Wind Conditions :Enter maximum wind
condition in the box. If you don't know
the precise figure, consult your local weather
office or building code.

Antenna
: Enter antenna details in the appropriate
boxes. Then click the "calculate safety
data" button.

Safety
Data : The chart below shows the safety factors
for the Titan model you selected, based on
the data you entered. If the safety factor
at each elevation is 1.0 or higher, then the
tower will survive. If any safety factor is
below 1.0, then the tower could fail, and
is not recommended for your application. Safety
factors below 1.0 will highlite in red. |
